My father used to be a pilot he flew those enormous passenger planes and he had jobs all around Europe so from when I was a little girl we lived in different countries in western Europe. Having that kind of experience makes you be aware of many things, makes you be able to speak different languages and all in all it gives you confidence. Now that we've settled back in Russia I hear from all sides how wonderful the west is and how backward Russia is. The funny thing is the life in the west has taught me to value the vast cultural heritage of Russia as well as to recognize many aspects of the life there as being much less wonderful than many in Russia imagine. I've now given up trying to persuade my mates, but I know for myself that what they associate with the two worlds is nothing but image not a reality.
